STEP ONE
MEET YOUR THERAPIST
Arriving at Massage Space, you will be greeted by our front desk and asked to fill out a Pretreatment Form. This is where you will need to make note of any medical history, past or present injuries and any other physical conditions you may have that we need to be aware of. You will then be greeted by your massage therapist who will review your Pretretment Form with you and take time to inquire about your reasons for coming in for a massage, address your current physical condition and any specific painful areas that you would like to focus on during your massage.
Helpful tips: Give yourself enough time
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment. This will give you enough time to complete your Pretreatment Form and a few minutes to begin to relax and unwind.
STEP TWO
BEGINNING YOUR SESSION
Your massage therapist will guide you into one of our relaxing spa rooms where a comfortable massage table with a warming blanket and crisp sheets awaits. You are welcome to use the small chair to store your personal belongings. Your massage therapist will then leave the room and patiently wait outside while you disrobe. The level you would like to disrobe to is completely up to your comfort; some clients prefer to disrobe completely while some will remain partially clothed. Once you have disrobed, you will lie on the warm massage table under the top sheet. Your massage therapist will then gently knock on the door to see if you are ready before entering your room.
During the massage session, you will always be draped with the top sheet and an additional blanket. As your massage therapist performs the bodywork, only the parts being worked on will be uncovered, ensuring that your modesty is respected at all times.
You can expect to be in a warm, comfortable and peaceful environment during your massage. The heating blanket placed on top of the padded massage table can be adjusted to your liking. There will also be soothing music playing, unless you prefer otherwise.
Helpful tips: Ensuring relaxation
Many people just close their eyes and relax completely. Others prefer conversation during their massage session. What ever you are comfortable with, we will follow your lead.
STEP THREE
DURING YOUR MASSAGE
Before beginning your massage, your therapist will ask you to let them know if at any point during the session, a technique or stroke they are using is uncomfortable. Depending on your requests and specific needs addressed at the beginning, your massage therapist will perform either a customized relaxing full-body massage or focus on the areas of your body that you have previously discussed.
Helpful tips: Communicate
To ensure your full satisfaction during your session and keep the massage as customized to your needs as possible, please let us know any feedback you may have during the session on pressure, room temperature, lighting, music… Feel free to also ask the therapist questions about massage and bodywork in general, or about the particular techniques you are receiving.
STEP FOUR
CONTINUED WELLNESS
Once your massage therapy session is complete, your therapist will quietly leave the room and give you time to re-dress. When you are ready, your therapist will greet you outside the room with a cup of water and walk you back up to the front area. Our massage therapy sessions vary from 1- hour to 1 ½ -hour to 2 hours in length. At Massage Space, each therapeutic massage session is the full duration of 60, 90 or 120 minutes with the 5 minute pre-interview and 5 minutes at the end for you to re-dress not cutting into your massage time.
We look forward to taking care of you at Massage Space! If you have any questions about the etiquette during a massage, one of our friendly front desk associates will be happy to answer them for you.
Helpful tips: Hydration is key
Drinking plenty of water after your session will help flush out any toxins that were released from your muscles during the massage, ease any soreness afterwards and keep you properly hydrated.
